Founded by sportsmen and women in 1936, the Idaho Wildlife Federation (IWF) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to protecting, conserving, and enhancing Idaho’s natural resources, wildlife, habitat, and sporting heritage for future and current generations.
With the hiring of this position, the Idaho Wildlife Federation continues its growth as a five-person organization, representing the largest coalition of sporting and conservation groups in the state of Idaho. As such, we are seeking a knowledgeable candidate to implement simultaneous fundraising strategies and complete tasks associated with cultivating charitable giving for the organization. The position will require a broad application of skills and tasks to continue IWF's growth, necessitating flexible work prioritization with diverse tasks. This position offers significant opportunities for professional development for the right individual seeking to grow their career in conservation or fundraising. This position must be based out of Boise.
Essential Functions
The Philanthropy Coordinator will collaborate with the Executive Director and IWF staff to coordinate and ensure the effective implementation of all IWF philanthropic activities. This position will involve the identification, recruitment, and retention of individual and corporate donors, organizing in-person and online fundraising events, searching for grants, and assisting staff with grant writing and reporting. Travel will be required in certain times of the year.
Job responsibilities include the core functions of communications, outreach, and recordkeeping. This full-time position requires awareness of current political and scientific issues and IWF’s public policy objectives and strategies. The Philanthropy Coordinator will help facilitate IWF’s continued success and take a proactive role in day-to-day operations of IWF.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Director and IWF staff to plan, implement, and coordinate effective multi-year strategies and plans for major gift prospects, including foundations, grants, corporate and individual donors.
Develop and implement strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors and prospects through the establishment of long-term relationships.
Partner with IWF staff to write/edit grants and coordinate with staff on tracking the successful completion of grant deliverables.
Coordinate the planning and execution of philanthropic events.
Manage the donor database and planning stewardship strategies for each donor to maximize giving.
Create compelling materials for philanthropic activities, events, mailings, and donor visits.
Create a quarterly donor stewardship activity report and calendar for Executive Director.
Create, maintain, update, and improve the IWF development plan in coordination with IWF staff.
Create end-of-year reports for digital and print media.
Represent IWF at key community events throughout the year to grow our membership and supporter base.
Qualifications:
Commitment and passion for hunting, angling, and outdoor lifestyle.
Enthusiasm and professionalism to represent IWF and its members, a passion to conserve and enhance Idaho’s wildlife and natural resources, and to advocate for creative and proactive solutions to solve natural resource issues.
Strong organizational, analytical, research, and administrative skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including persuasive writing and proofing. Ability to respond in a professional, knowledgeable, and friendly manner.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft programs.
Applicant must be reliable, pro-active, work independently, and set priorities and handle multiple tasks with strong attention to detail, able to work with diverse personalities.
Ability to create and cultivate strong, genuine relationships with individuals and stakeholders.
Ability to travel frequently across Idaho to plan or attend events, meet with potential and existing donors.
Flexibility to work longer hours some days (with accompanying time off for personal use when appropriate) and take on additional responsibilities and special projects as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or other training/certification in natural resources, public policy, communications, nonprofit/business management, or related field preferred.
Or experience in fundraising, marketing, administration, event planning/management, community organizing or communications and engagement.
Familiarity and experience with donor databases.
