Public Lands Caucus
Thank you, Representative Simpson, for your continued leadership to keep public lands in public hands!
This week, the Bipartisan Public Lands Caucus was announced, led by Representatives Zinke (R- Mont) and Representative Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.). The Caucus will be co-chaired by Representative Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) and Representative Dingell (D-Mich).
The formation of the Public Lands Caucus is welcome news to all who enjoy our nation’s public lands. This caucus will serve as a voice for the 640 million acres that all Americans use and enjoy. We’ve seen disappointing actions in Congress this week in the reconciliation process, including a late night move without public process, to require the sale or exchange of hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada.
We thank Representative Simpson for his leadership on an issue so critical to the Idaho way of life. We also urge Representative Fulcher - who voted in favor of the amendment that would dispose of public lands in Utah and Nevada - to join with the overwhelming majority of Idahoans and fight to keep public lands in public hands.
