Spring Bear Bash Brings Outdoorsmen Together in Couer d’Alene
On Saturday, April 12th, IWF hosted our very first Spring Bear Bash at Vantage Point Brewing in Coeur d’Alene. This new event was a great opportunity for fellow outdoorsmen to connect and spend the evening talking about spring bear hunting over a few well-earned beers. Being our first event of this kind in North Idaho, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but attendees ranged from first-time bear hunters to seasoned veterans who regularly fill their freezers with delicious bear meat.
Throughout the evening, IWF staff presented on who IWF is, bear management and conservation, eating black bears, and general spring bear hunting techniques. We were also joined by some fantastic guest speakers. Local taxidermist Tom Cook of Untamed Taxidermy shared tips on caring for your bear hides in the field to make life easier for your taxidermist and Jeff and Nichole Davis of Big Boar Bear Baits gave an in-depth talk on baiting techniques and generously donated a starter bait kit as a raffle prize!
A huge thanks to Vantage Point Brewing for hosting us in their awesome space and to all the attendees who made the first Spring Bear Bash a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
Don’t forget: If you’re heading out this spring, make sure to take your bear identification test before you hit the field.
