Introducing Bobby Pidgeon: IWF's Legal Research Intern
Joining the Idaho Wildlife Federation as the Legal Research Intern, Bobby is excited to work with IWF on legal issues relating to Idaho’s fish, wildlife, public lands and outdoor heritage.
Bobby was born in Memphis Tennessee and moved to the Wood River Valley in the third grade. He spent as much time as he could in the outdoors whether hunting, fishing or backpacking around Idaho. Bobby grew up around hunting and fishing and would go hunting with his dad well before he was old enough to hold a gun. He shot his first deer when he was 7 at his family farm in Tennessee and has been fishing for as long as he could hold a rod. Moving to Idaho introduced Bobby to the public land opportunities that Idaho has to offer. In high school, Bobby rafted through the Frank Church Wilderness, spent a week backpacking through the southwest to explore Native American cliff dwellings and exploring public lands around Idaho.
Bobby earned a B.A. in History at Texas Christian University. While in college, he introduced several friends to outdoor recreation, including helping more than a few friends learn to fly fish and successfully harvest their first animal. While at TCU, he experienced the lack of hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for those not fortunate enough to have access to private land. Living in Texas and experiencing firsthand the impact of a lack of public land opportunities, Bobby gained a renewed interest in protecting and preserving public lands. Soon after graduating, Bobby moved back west to Montana after graduating in order to live in a state with more public land hunting and fishing opportunities. After a brief stint working construction in Montana, Bobby moved back to his hometown of Ketchum, Idaho to take a job in the recruiting industry.
After several years working as a contingency recruiter for an Idaho based firm, Bobby chose to pursue a legal education at the University of Idaho College of Law’s Boise campus. He plans to focus on land use issues.
Bobby is a passionate outdoorsman, he can be found outside, fishing, backpacking, skiing or chasing birds with his black lab. He is excited to work with IWF this summer to help protect Idaho’s great heritage that has been so impactful on his life.
